Dynamic Imaging Service Process Details

The DIS processing details help you better understand image size and output transformations, and image caching.

Dynamic Imaging Caching

When you change parameters to transform an image, DIS uses caching to serve up images to web browsers and mobile apps. When you upload a catalog of high-resolution images to Salesforce B2C Commerce, the DIS transformations are stored in cache.

DIS caches images differently depending on whether the images are on CDN (Content Delivery Network).

  • CDN instances images are cached until a cache invalidation is requested to B2C Commerce. New image assets are given a unique cache identifier and don't require explicit cache invalidation.
  • For non-CDN instances, DIS revalidates images after 10 minutes.
