Create and Manage Categories

You use Business Manager to create categories and subcategories, and assign products to categories.

When creating a category, you can use the category attributes settings and products attribute definitions to control how the category and products appear on your storefront. You can also set category schedules, link categories, manage category search refinement definitions, and set category sorting rules.

  • Create and Modify Categories and Subcategories
    When configuring a catalog, you create categories and subcategories to organize how customers navigate to products on your storefront.
  • Create a Rule-Based Categorization Rule Set
    A categorization rule set is a set of conditions. The result of the condition logic isolates products that are assigned to the category.
  • Exclude a Product from a Rule-Based Categorization Rule Set
    You can exclude product from an existing rule set.
  • Manage Category Attributes
    Category Attributes are applied to a category. When a category is designated as the primary category for a product, that product inherits the assigned category attributes.
  • Product Attribute Definitions
    Product attribute Definitions specify the product attributes that appear in the storefront when a customer accesses a product through a category.
  • Copying Categories
    The copy category function helps you manage product category assignments within and across catalogs.
  • Scheduling Categories
    You can schedule the online and offline status of categories prior to when you want the categories deployed on your storefront.
  • Category linking
    You can link categories to each other so items in one category can be identified as belonging to another category. For example, you can link an Accessories category to a Women's category. The link allows you to identify certain products within the Women's category as Accessories, such as scarves, jewelry, belts, or shoes.
  • Search Refinement Definitions
    Search refinement definitions let you configure the attributes used as refinement options in your storefront categories.
  • Sorting Rule
    You define sorting rules to control the order in which search results appear for a category. When developing sorting rules, it is best to adopt a storefront strategy that helps your customers quickly find the products they seek.
  • Page Meta Tag Rules
    Page meta tags are used in HTML documents to provide structured data about a web page. Common tags are title, robots, description, and social tags such as open graph tags.
