Working with Slot Configurations

Two types of users are involved with content slot development and implementation in Salesforce B2C Commerce: Merchants and Web Template developers.

The information described here is intended for the merchant and those responsible for managing the content slots after they are developed.

Take the following steps to develop and implement content slots in your storefront:

1 Merchant
  1. Define overall storefront layout and design (wireframes).
  2. Define page templates needed and content placement on pages.
  3. Define how content should appear on individual slots.

2 Web Template Developers
  1. Create Page Templates (add <isslot> tags) and define slots.
  2. Create rendering templates.
  3. Upload to Staging instance.
 UX Studio
3 Merchant
  1. Create and Edit Slot Configurations
  2. Specify the rules that define the type of content to show and when
  3. Reference the rendering template per slot.
 Business Manager

Each slot has a unique Slot ID and context that are specified in the ISML page template. To view these, select site > Merchant Tools > Online Marketing > Contents Slots. For each storefront slot, you can define many slot configurations.

You can also import and export content slot configurations.
