Salesforce B2C Commerce 24.7 > Merchandising Your Site > Customers > Create a Customer Group > Using Dynamic Customer Groups for Active Merchandising
Create a Dynamic Customer Group
A dynamic customer group is a group with changing membership. Membership is based on purchase history, profile, address, or active data. You can also base membership on membership in system and static customer groups. You can't base membership on dynamic customer groups.
Create a dynamic customer group for a targeted campaign, micro-site, and product
line.
- Select site > Merchant Tools > Customers > Customer Groups.
- Click New.
- Enter an ID (mandatory).
- Select Dynamic.
- Click Save.
-
On general tab, enter or edit a description.
For example,
Female customers from the United States and Canada who spends an average of $100 or more per order)
. -
To add a condition, in the Membership Rule section:
- Click Add.
-
Click Select Attribute and select from the list.
Use the search-as-you-type functionality to quickly find attributes.
- Select an operator.
- Select a value.
-
Use the square icon on the left to drag a condition from one position to another.
You can drag and drop within an inclusion or exclusion list or from an inclusion to an exclusion and vice versa.
-
To change the relationship between conditions, select AND or OR.
Best practice: If you add one of the following two conditions, AND makes more sense than OR>:
- Average order value over $50 AND Country is Italy
- Average order value over $50 OR Country is Italy
The following would be a better OR condition.
- City is Denver OR City is Boulder
-
(Optional) Create a condition for a session custom attribute:
- Click Add to add a rule.
- Click Select Attribute and select Session Custom Attribute.
- Enter the name of the session custom attribute, for example, Release_Number.
- Press Enter.
- Select an operator from the list.
- Click Select Value, enter a value, and click Add.
- Enter a value and press Enter.
To change a session custom attribute, click the cell and the text field opens. You change the condition type (for example, from Session Custom Attribute to Birthday), but the existing operator and values are cleared. You must delete the condition and create a one. - To delete a condition, click the delete icon to the right of it.
- Click Save.
-
To edit an existing dynamic customer group:
- Select site > Merchant Tools > Customers > Customer Groups.
- Click the ID of a group.
- On the general tab, enter or change the description.
- To edit a condition, click it.
- Follow the previous instructions.
