Manage Content Assets

Non-product content takes many forms. You can add images, HTML content, strings, text, or numeric content.

You can specify a custom pipeline name and start node, with the function name defining the protocol (HTTP or HTTPS) to be used. You can also include content snippets from a self-defined pipeline; choose and enforce a certain protocol or include other content assets within a content asset.

We provide a content inventory template that you can use to track the content across your site.

Note: Salesforce B2C Commerce indexes the content data in the site library, whether it's a private or a shared library. If a site uses a shared library, the data in its private library doesn't appear in any search index. Indexing considers site-specific attribute values for content assets when indexing them.
Note: If you have Manage_Site_Library permission to edit an asset in a locale, the locale must be active for one of the sites for which you have access permission. If the locale isn't enabled, you can't edit content in that locale.
  1. Select site > Merchant Tools > Content > Content Assets. You can search for content assets independent of the library folder structure, create content, and delete unnecessary content.
  2. On the Content page, you can create links to:
    • Static elements, such as products and categories
    • Pipeline links and includes
Note: The SiteGenesis application contains sample content assets.
    • URLs
  3. To filter the list of content assets, use the search box at the top of the page.
  4. To add images:
    1. Import image files and .zip files into the library by selecting site > Merchant Tools > Content > Import & Export.
    2. Import folder structures and content through the same import module in XML file format.
  5. To create content directly in the Content Assets module, click New.
  6. On the Content page, select one or more content assets that you want to copy and click Copy.
    1. If you select one content asset, a field appears where you can enter the new content asset ID. Enter the ID and click OK.
If you don't enter an ID, the ID is appended with -1, for example, about-us becomes about-us-1.
    2. If you select multiple content assets, they are automatically copied and given an ID appended with -1.
  7. On the Content page, select a content asset you want to delete and click Delete.
  8. On the Content page, click a content asset ID to edit it.
  9. On the Content Asset page, click Lock to lock the content asset for editing.
The lock remains for 60 minutes. You can click Unlock to release the lock.
  10. Click Apply to save your changes.
